End of 2011 through my pregnancy....until now 2013...(Part 1)

Oh boy!  I am feeling waaay behind on all I'd like to have blogged about, so here goes my attempt to get the important stuff down.  It may take a few posts, but better than nothing right?  Haha!

Corb and I always said we'd like to wait about a year before we started our family.  We didn't wait quite that long, just a few month or two short.  I think I was about 4-6 weeks pregnant with Grey when we celebrated our 1st Anniversary in California.  I will never forget that feeling I had when we took the pregnancy test and it actually said PREGNANT.  We had taken a few before, and they were always rather quick to turn and say not pregnant.  I remember it being a Monday and I just had this feeling like I actually was.  No reason, I certainly wasn't sick, just couldn't get the idea out of my mind.  So we took a test, and sure enough (I swear the stupid thing didn't turn for like 5 minutes) I was totally pregnant.  I was shocked, and couldn't believe it.  I remember running around our house, and I kept feeling my tummy.  Corb immediately was reading reviews to find the BEST pregnancy app. on the iPhone.  Pretty typical of him:)  Meanwhile I called and made my first doctors appointment, and then Corb took me to get a flu shot.
October 24, 2011:  The day we found out!

I had the HARDEST time keeping my mouth shut!  Originally we thought I was about 6 weeks along, and that right after Thanksgiving we could tell everyone.  Family first, and then a few weeks later when we were in the safe zone (12 weeks) I could blab away and tell all my other friends, and everyone at work.  Well come to find out at our first appointment, we had calculated wrong and I was 2 weeks behind where I thought I was.  I was so upset.  Seems silly now, but I was bummed.  That meant I had to wait even LONGER to tell everyone.  My 12 week mark would be right on Christmas Day.  A little over 2 months!  Ugggh!  It was seriously so hard those first few weeks.  A week after we found out we had planned to drive to California and stay with my Aunt and Uncle over our 1st Anniversary.
Corb can't do a long drive in anything, but a
sparkling clean car.
Yes.  That is how many treats we took.
Cookies. My personal fave.

The best flan EVER! MMM!
I may have had a small obsession with
root beer the beginning of my pregnancy.
Wood Ranch.  AMAZING!

The beginning of caffeine free for me.  Went

stay away from it...mosty:)
Anniversary Breakfast.
A little boat ride in Westlake.
Staying at my Aunt and Uncles house feels just like home.  I've been going there every summer since I was like 10, so it's my home away from home.  I LOVE it.  They are sooo good to me.  It was hard to keep such a big secret from my Aunt.  I wanted to tell her sooo bad, but knew I couldn't.  It was fast Sunday while we were there, and I remember setting an alarm early to sneak down to the kitchen to have some breakfast before everyone woke up!  I was soo nervous I'd get caught, and my secret would be blown.  Thankfully I snuck away with a toasted bagel, banana, and even some fresh orange juice.

I may not have had the most challenging pregnancy, but one thing I do remember was I was ALWAYS exhausted.  Especially in the beginning and the end.

Soo sleepy.

 I napped whenever I could.
Even during movies.
Or on the floor in Corb's office with a pillow and blankie...
oh and Alfie.

Finally Thanksgiving was rolling around and we decided it was time to tell our families.  At this point I had gotten used to not telling people, and kind of found it fun to have it just mine and Corb's little secret.  We decided to tell my dad first and since we were having dinner at with Corb's family we invited my dad over for breakfast that morning.  I thought for sure he'd know something was up, but was totally shocked when we told him.  We told Corb's family right before we were sitting down to eat.  The girls, mainly Lexi all had a hunch something was up.  She's pretty observant and would say that from the moment Corb and I walked in the door we were acting all fishy and secretive.  So right before dinner Corb put his hands on my tummy and said something like...we have some news.  Everyone was freaking out, and so excited.  I felt relieved and happy that we could finally share our exciting news.  It felt good, and made it seem more real to get it out there.

Thanksgiving with the Allred's in 2011.

About 8 weeks along.

The next few weeks were fun and a little nerve wracking.  I knew it was only a matter of time before I had to tell everyone else and that included everyone I work with at the Salon.  It was nice having Lexi know.  Thankfully I never experienced much morning sickness or nausea.  I can't think of anything worse.  I remember being slightly dizzy every now and then while doing clients.  I would have to look at something that wasn't moving, and tell myself to snap out of it.  A few times I felt like I was literally going to tip right over.  I always had to go pee, and that was obnoxious!  There were a handful of times I would straight up lie to my client and say I had to go grab a drink or the broom just so I could slip in the restroom and pee.  How ridiculous!  Especially because it was like 1 tablespoon.  Such a waste of time....haha!  I was always snacking like pregnant people do.  I can't tell you how SICK I was/still am of 'snacky' foods.  I probably will never eat wheat thins or granola bars again.  I was always nervous the girls at the salon would wonder why I was always snacking, because typically that was so not like me.  Those weeks went by fast, and it soon enough everyone knew.  It was SO nice.

Haha! This makes me laugh still!  This is how we told everyone.  I left this on the whiteboard in the break room at the salon one morning and left it at that.  I had already gone in early that morning and told my boss, and to my surprise he said he kinda had a hunch I was.  It was so nice being able to tell all my clients and share my exciting news.  It was great!
2011...Getting our Christmas tree!
Christmas Day! Pretty sure this was taken
in Sacrement meeting!
12 weeks along.

At this point we were dying to know if we were having a boy or a girl.  Our doctors wouldn't tell us until I was 20 weeks along, and we were so anxious.  Well Corb had talked to some people and work, and they told us of a place that would tell you for 25 bucks just right across the street from the hospital.  So at 16 weeks we went and found out!

On January 31st we found out we were having a little boy!  We were totally shocked.  Corb and I were both expecting a little girl.  Not that we cared either way, but that's just what we had pictured.  Truth be told we were glad to be having a boy first.  Seemed better that way:)

Our little Grey

It's obvious I'm awful at the whole blog thing, but I'd really like to be good at it.  So I'm going to give it another shot.  The last time I actually blogged Ryan had just got his mission call, and now he will be home in 5 months.  Haha, oops!

Well a LOT has changed since then.  We now have added a wee little boy to our little family.  He is by far the BEST thing that has ever happened to Corb and I, and I mean it.  We absolutely LOVE it.  Being parents has certainly rocked our worlds, but we couldn't be more happy.  I certainly had a lot to learn in the beginning.  I had never been around kids growing up, and babysat very little.  I can almost guarantee that I had never changed a diaper until Greyson was born.  (Truth be told, Corb changed all of Grey's diapers until a few days after we'd be home from the hospital.  Not because I wasn't willing, Corb was just THAT on top of it.)  It took me a few weeks to settle into being a new mom, but once I did I fell in LOVE in with it.  Nothing in life has ever felt so fulfilling.

Here are some of our recent photo's of Grey...

Our little blue-eyed baldy.

Recently he does this funny scrunch face.
 It cracks us up.

Grey loves our new sheets too!

Tuckered right out in the jumper.

Little monkey.
He's learned how to climb out of his swing.
Grey and dad.

Don't let this happy picture deceive you.
This lasted 5 minutes, and then he was screaming.
Probably not going to come to dinner with dad and I again.

His favorite thing...
taking of his shoes or socks and eating them.
 Silly boy.
Yes.  That is our kitty snuggled up by Grey.
Pretty cute huh?

Big boy sitting up at Costco.  Our favorite place.

How dad keeps an eye on baby while he works
 on his car.  Haha!

Hiking the Y yesterday.

Grey fell asleep by the time we made it to the top.

Everything in the mouth.

Sunday Morning.
